Traditional Art / Drawings / Fantasy

The wings. By the completion of these, my poor weasel brush was exhausted. I painted the background black in despair. I was trying so hard to find a way to depict Hypnos properly. How does one depict an ancient archetype such as this? Who is he, what is it? I feel more prepared to answer these questions after a few years of study. This was from 2005/early 2006, a time of searching for forms.

there seems to be a sense of depth and dimension within the black shards hidden in the feathers
