Detail of Hypnos. Ink painting from 2005/early 2006. I was using very small weasel hair brushes to build up many layers of ink. Unfortunately, the many hours of abuse on my favorite brush led to its eventual decay. But I learned how to play with the brush...

The photo quality don´t make justice to this work, I think is even better to look directly to the paper as well ;)

I like the textures that you create with the ink, I shall go back to use it again.

The technique you used here gives a fantastic result; the texture is unlike anything I've seen.

If I understand what you mean about putting too much work into this; I think that I can sympathize. It seems sometimes we put so much focus and energy into aspects of a piece..we work it to its death and while the final product may have really strong points, the end result seems disproportionate to the amount of yourself that went into it. It doesn't match your inner vision, or the live up to the concepts it's meant to portray, and while this isn't evident to anyone else, you know it doesn't look exactly how you meant it to but can't quite explain why.

I'm not sure if that's the same thing going through your mind or not. It is a theme worth revisiting, however.

Right, and I think I may be slightly off in calling him "deliverer of dreams". What I meant was that his realm is when dreams arrive. But I changed my text a bit. Dreams, perhaps, have a different totemic deity, the brother or son of Hypnos. Thank you for your kind comment and appreciation!
