The hand of the ghoul. Wish I could show the whole piece, but for now I only have my tiny scanner. I enjoyed doing this hand. It is outlined in rapidgraph and then filled in with brush. I call this being a ghoul because that is what it feels like to me, but in the full view it is basically a large serpentine form with man-like arms and head. Not sure if that can count as a ghoul, but I don't think I would bring that up to this guy's face...
This will go into scraps, but I just wanted to get it out there for a while, have fun with it.
Love this. I often stare at your work and imagine how you went about contorting the ink so gracefully. Strangely menacing, this hand, for it's death-like gesture... phew, it gives me chills. Seeing these last two works -- I enjoyed seeing them as separate pieces to a larger picture... it adds for a level of mystery and intrigue
Thanks for commenting on this one, sorry my reply is so late...I want to do another version of this beast, but am so bored with trying large works. Perhaps I have been staring too much at illuminations and miniatures lately, but I want to get down in that mode.
I just realized you live in Seattle. Art Not Terminal Gallery has periodic event days where you can pay an extremely modest fee to have your work photographed. I just moved to Seattle over a year ago and adore Phinney Ridge.
Thanks for the tip, I could definitely use it! Some call this "Upper Fremont", but it's really the edge of the Ridge. Like a medieval fortress town, with magical stairways flanking. I really dig it up here too. I just kind of landed here 3 years back, so I'm realtively new to Seattle. I am liking it here, it is a definte refresh from the last places I lived in. A bit quiet and empty though (yet that is usually a good thing). How do you like it here?
I like it so far...the weather is nicer than back east. It's expensive to live here, Larkin and I would love to buy a house and have a proper studio - but it's difficult with the price of housing! There are tons of great opportunities for artists though so it may be well worth it. Are you a member of artist trust?
Lots of resources for artists...grants, fellowships, call for artists, studios, health insurance, etc. Membership is $45 a year, well worth it. If you volunteer 5 hours the fee is waived.
Sorry not to write back sooner, haven't been on DA for a little bit
